The First Descendant

Microtransactions in The First Descendant are summarized as...

The game contains many premium purchases, most of these are cosmetic only, but the game also offers items that overcome inconveniences. All microtransactions are purchased via a premium currency by the name "Caliber". Caliber is purchased in inconvenient bundles that equal roughly 500 currency for 10 USD. These bundles are often just under the value needed for many of the purchases, forcing you to purchase a larger bundle.

The game contains unlockable characters. These can all be unlocked via in-game means, but can alternatively be unlocked with the premium currency. The prices on these vary. Some cost 600 Caliber (requiring the 20 USD bundle), while others might cost 900 Caliber (also requiring the 20 USD bundle). Characters may have an "ultimate" variant. This is a stronger variant of the base character. These can be acquired through bundles that cost 5000 Caliber, or roughly 100 USD. These can also be unlocked through in-game means, but this is a time consuming process.

The game offers many cosmetics. These include accessories, outfits, skins, and more. The prices on these vary wildly and many items can only be purchased in bundles. Part of customization includes dyes, which are used to change the color of certain (but not all) outfits. Dyes are consumable. If you use a dye, it will no longer be usable on other outfits, but it will remain available on that particular outfit after swapping it for another dye. Outfits may have several dye slots, some up to 6, requiring multiple purchases just to change the colors.

Battle Passes are available similar to other games. You unlock a progression track for 500 Caliber (roughly 10 USD), or 1500 Caliber (requiring the 50 USD bundle, or 2 separate purchases of at least a combined 30 USD) for an upgrade that includes a head start in levels. Part of the Battle Pass rewards are "Bonus Coins", which are used to unlocked in-game items through the "Bonus Shop". These coins expire once the battle pass expires, despite the items not being tied to the battle pass.

To bypass slow progression tracks, the game offers boosters for xp, proficiency, gold, and other currencies. Additionally you can purchase in-game resources, including currencies. These are often including in bundles.
