XDefiant is a free-to-play game that earns its money through both cosmetic and gameplay-altering purchases. Most purchases are made with the use of a premium currency named "XCoins". These can only be purchased in bundles with real money. Bundles come in different sizes where 1000 XCoins equals roughly 10 USD. The larger the bundle you buy, the more bonus currency you receive. Some bundles also include limited-time offers that grant additional cosmetic rewards, such as character skins.
The game features various types of cosmetics such as character skins, weapon skins, and emotes. These are most commonly purchased through a rotating store, either through the "daily items", which show new items every day, or through "featured items" which stick around for a while longer. The daily items vary in price and "rarity", with skins often costing around 1000 XCoins. The "featured items" category comes in bundles only, offering multiple cosmetics for a higher price, ranging from 2000 to 4000 XCoins.
Next to the in-game store, you can also purchase "packs" through various storefronts. These packs often include additional items beyond just cosmetics, like the premium currency or the Battle Pass for the current season. These packs cannot be bought using the premium currency.
Some cosmetics can be earned for free, either through in-game challenges or through Ubisoft rewards. These tend to be fairly limited, however.
Besides cosmetics, the game also sells playable characters in the form of "Factions". Factions grant you abilities that other factions do not have. These can be purchased in two bundles, either unlocking only the base character or also unlocking additional characters and other cosmetic items, costing 1000 and 2500 XCoins respectively. These factions can also be earned through in-game means for free. However, this requires considerable time investment.
The game offers a Battle Pass reward track system. The Battle Pass has a free track and a premium track, as well as a Premium Battle Pass Bundle, which unlocks 20 Battle Pass levels instantly. Similar to Factions, these cost 1000 and 2500 XCoins respectively.
