Overwatch

Microtransactions in Overwatch are summarized as...

Overwatch's lootboxes are the poster-child for all news articles related to lootboxes. But all things considered, their implementation is the most fair I've seen in all games that use lootboxes as their primary monetisation. You're frequently and reliably given free lootboxes. When a new in-game event drops you'll likely have enough time to obtain all new skins without having to pay or without having to put in an unfair amount of time.

All that being said, lootboxes are still lootboxes and the game and the industry as a whole would be better off without them.

Overwatch also has a premium currency by the name of Overwatch League Tokens. These tokens are acquired by watching eSports matches on YouTube. They can optionally be bought with real money. The quantities you buy them in matches the pricing of the cosmetics themselves. Some of these cosmetics are timed exclusives.
