New World
Microtransactions in New World are summarized as...
Unlike other MMOs New World does not feature a subscription fee.
There is an in-game shop with a premium currency called "Marks of Fortune". This currency is used for all premium items and can not be earned via regular play. The currency comes in bundles that do not match the price of shop items.
Before the game launched, premium items were datamined that provide advantages to the player. XP boosts or fast travel items, for example. These items are not present in the current version of the game. The store only offers cosmetic content.
The game has released one paid and one free expansion so far, both providing a moderate amount of new content. More expansions are expected in the future, but the developers have stopped providing a roadmap.
The game can be purchased in 4 separate editions;
- Standard Edition, granting access to the game.
- Deluxe Edition, for roughly an additional 10 USD, providing an in-game mount.
- Azoth Edition, for roughly an additional 50 USD over the standard edition, providing a range of cosmetic content including weapon skins, pets, emotes, dyes, and more.
- Elysian Edition, for roughly an additional 30 USD, providing the base game and the first expansion. This isn't any cheaper than purchasing the base game and expansion separately.
