The Multiplayer is free to play, the Campaign is a full-priced game.
Halo follows a Battle Pass model with new Battle Passes every season. Unlike most other games Battle Passes in Halo do not expire. If you did not finish it before the seasons ends you can still finish it whenever you like. If you did not play during a certain season you can still buy the Battle Pass of that season at a later time.
The game features a Premium Currency which is used for all microtransactions. The prices of store items does largely match the quantities of Premium Currencies you can buy.
The store rotates on a timed basis and features mostly bundles. The items in these bundles can not be purchased individually.
The game features "XP boosts", which increase your XP earned, and "Challenge Swaps", which allow you to re-roll one of your weekly challenges. Both of these can be purchased using the Premium Currency. As it currently is progressing the Battle Pass is an incredibly slow process, encouraging the purchage of XP boosts and Battle Pass levels.
The campaign is not free-to-play and is a full-priced game. The campaign offers many unlockable cosmetics that can be used in the multiplayer.
