GTA Online has had many free updates over the years and they don't seem to be slowing down. One issue with these updates is that the features they bring often cost a lot of in-game currency. While this currency can be farmed through regular play, the quantities you need can take a long while to acquire. This is to encourage you to spend money on "Shark Cards", which are GTA's primary form of monetisation. "Shark Cards" are simply a way of directly purchasing in-game money using real money.

GTA Online features an optional subscription fee. This subscription offers unique in-game rewards and discounts for in-game items.
