FragPunk

Microtransactions in FragPunk are summarized as...

FragPunk is a free-to-play game with a largely variety of cosmetics and gameplay altering purchases. It features many systems seen in other free-to-play games, but often through confusing and convoluted ways. The game offers many cosmetics that can be earned for free, but can often also be purchased through premium means. Most higher valued items are only available through premium purchases.

Currencies

The game contains a wide variety of currencies, each used for a specific purpose.
- FragPunk Coins; the primary (but not only) premium currency. This is used for most shop purchases. This currency can be earned in low amounts through events or through the Battle Pass, but it is largely meant to be purchased with real money.
- Glunite; a currency that can be earned for free through regular play, but can also be purchased with the premium currency. This currency is used for unlock cosmetics.
- Gold; a currency earned through regular play, but can also be purchased with the premium currency. This currency is used to unlock playable characters called "Lancers". It is also used for some cosmetics.
- Skin Keys; Earned through the Battle Pass or through some events, but can also be purchased with the premium currency. This currency is used to unlock variants of some cosmetics that you already purchased through other means.
- Ultimate Materials; a currency earned through getting duplicate items from lootboxes. This material is used to purchase cosmetics in a special cosmetics track.
- Membership Picks; a currency earned through a paid membership, with more Picks earned if you subscribe annually rather than monthly. This currency is used for membership exclusive cosmetics, as well as lootboxes.
- Club Supplies; earned by completing daily and weekly challenges for players who are subscribed to the paid membership. This currency is used to purchase other currencies, lootboxes, and some cosmetics.
- Battle Pass Tokens; earned for free through the Battle Pass, with more rewards if you purchased the premium Battle Pass. This currency is used to purchase other currencies, lootboxes, and some cosmetics.
- Ranking Coins; earned for free by playing ranked matches. This currency is used for exclusive cosmetics.
- Event specific currencies; Events might have their own currencies that are only relevant during that event. These currencies will vary between events and will expire when not spend during that event. So far these have been earned for free, but that might change in the future.
- Real money purchases; Despite the wide variety of currencies, some purchases are only available through real money purchases directly, with no currency in between. This is the case for some cosmetic bundles.

Playable characters

The game features playable characters, called Lancers, each with their own subset of abilities. These can be purchased with in-game earned or premium currencies. Each character features their own set of cosmetics, some earned for free, some only available through premium means. Cosmetics that are earned for free are earned in varies ways. That includes leveling up a character through regular play, through lootboxes, or through purchases with a different free currency.
The game currently includes 13 playable characters, with 5 unlocked from the start. Each character costs 488 FragPunk Coins (a premium currency), which equals roughly 5 USD. Purchasing all characters would at this point cost roughly 40 USD. There is no premium currency bundle that would match this price exactly, you would need to purchase the 60 USD bundle instead, if your only goal is to unlock all playable characters.

Lootboxes and Ultimate Rewards

The game sells lootboxes in various forms, each with their own set of cosmetics to unlock. Most notably here are Pop Cans, which include the most expensive set of cosmetics, currently in the form of the "Constellation" prize pool. This pool contains a large variety of cosmetics, from character and weapon skins, to profile customization and sprays. Drawing a duplicate item from the lootboxes earns you "Ultimate Materials", which can be used to purchase cosmetics items in a special track, outside of the lootbox rewards. This track contains items of varying quality, with the largest item being the "Ultimate Skin" for a melee weapon. This skins costs 1000 Ultimate Materials. After open 50 lootboxes you are guaranteed an "Ultimate Reward", this reward is confusingly not the Ultimate Skin, instead it's Ultimate Materials. Earning enough materials to purchase the highest reward will depend on your luck, but it might cost as much as 800 USD.

Battle Pass

The game features a battle pass with a free track, a premium track, and an ultimate track. The premium track can be purchased for 900 Coins, requiring the 1015 Coins bundle, for roughly 10 USD. The ultimate track can be purchased for 2500 Coins, requiring the purchase of the 3675 Coins bundle, for roughly 35 USD. This ultimate track includes more in-game currencies, an XP boost, and exclusive skins.
Completing the battle pass earns yo 900 Coins back, enough for the next battle pass.
